在1838年到1864年这里是宾夕法尼亚州、特拉华州以及新泽西州的天主教大教堂，1834年这里举办了莫扎特《D小调安魂曲》在美国的首演。原建筑于1899年烧毁，后于1902年重建并举行了落成仪式。
Philadelphia is a city with a long
history. It was once the first
capital of the United States. As an
immigrant country, the United States
has many immigrant cities, and
Philadelphia is one of them.
Influenced by European religious
culture, there are hundreds of
churches scattered throughout the
city's streets and alleys. In just
three months, I couldn't take
pictures of all of them even if I
walked through every street and
alley. This St. John the Apostle
Roman Catholic Cathedral is like an
old man who has endured many
hardships, standing quietly. It was
first built in 1830. From 1838 to
1864, it was the Catholic cathedral
for Pennsylvania, Delaware and New
Jersey. In 1834, the American
premiere of Mozart's Requiem in D
minor was held here. The original
building was destroyed by fire in
1899 and was rebuilt in 1902, with a
dedication ceremony held. |
