Today in the history of music
On April 25, 1931, "Perer the miner," an opera in the walloon dialect by the great Belgian violinist Eugene Ysaye, opened in Brussels. But isai fainted during the first rehearsal and was too ill to command.
Joachim and sarasati were two antagonistic figures who dominated the development of violin playing in the second half of the 19th century.Joachim has the seriousness of classicism and is famous for his profound emotion in playing.Salasati captivated the audience with his sweet voice and brilliant technique. As the two opposing superstars faded, there was inevitably a new need to combine the two styles, with perfect skill and intense emotion. In the last two decades of the 19th century, Belgium's Eugene isai fulfills this need. "he plays like a bird singing," he compares with liszt and paganini.
Eugene Ysaye (1858.7.16-1931.5.12) was born into a poor family that had been making nails since the 16th century.Isai's father defied family tradition to become a seamstress, an excellent amateur violinist and music director of the local church.Isai began to learn the violin from his father at the age of four, but he was not a child prodigy. As an enthusiastic and wayward child, he often played noisily with his friends instead of practicing for long hours as his parents required. In 1865, when he was only seven years old, he entered the liege conservatory of music, won second place a year later, but was expelled from the school in 1869.The specific reason for the expulsion is not certain, but it seems to be because of the inconsistency between his father's teaching style and that of the conservatory. The conservatory acknowledged his "talent" but complained that he "didn't practice".Isai then joined his father at local music events. He tried his hand at being a panzer, but was soon fired because he had no interest in being a soldier.
One day in 1873, he met Henry vierdang by chance and changed his life.Vierdang was passing isai's house when he heard a beautiful adagio movement of his concerto no. 4 in d minor being played. He knocked on the door and asked the names of the players. This meeting was lucky for both sides. From then on vierdang and the child became inseparable, and the child as his spiritual heir, isai has always regarded vierdang as his mentor. When winnie learned that isai had been expelled from musicology, she tried to get the boy to re-enter the conservatory and study directly in rodolfo massar's class.Isai's efforts were soon rewarded with a first prize and a gold medal.

Ysaye 's teaching skill lies in his demonstration ability. He always has a violin in his hand when he teaches.Louis passinger, one of America's great violin teachers, first heard isai play in the bouchon building in leipzig. From then on, he eagerly waited to learn from isai. It was not until 1905 that he had the opportunity to go to Belgium to study with isai.Gingold provides us with invaluable first-hand data on isai's teaching techniques. At the time, kinggold was playing to isai in La Chanterelle (literally "E string"), the summer home isai had built for himself in zuter, Belgium.
I prepared the first movement of Brahms's violin concerto and went to him with enthusiasm.Isai said very quietly in his deep voice, "can you play the three octaves of G major for me?"I was stunned, but I did what he asked me to do, and then he asked me to play with every bow I could think of, until finally he asked me to play the Brahms concerto.
Gingold was accepted as isai's student on the condition that he should study French.Isai said he only spoke English to him for a few weeks.Isai's first technique for correcting kinggold was the method of changing strings (from one string to another without a break). Isai demonstrated the powerful and full sound that the fabians could make by changing from one string to another using the bow method of the forearm. It took professor isay two months for kinggold to be satisfied with his bow.Only then did they learn to play, and the first piece he taught was vierdang's concerto for the fifth violin

Born in Russia, Gingold grew up in the United States and went on to become one of the most important violin teachers of the 20th century. He was born in Russia on October 28, 1909, and his family moved to the United States shortly after the 1917 revolution. The Indianapolis international violin competition, founded by Joseph gingold in 1982, has become one of the most competitive violin competitions in the world.

A few days before the wedding at isai in September 1886, a group of French people, led by the French scholar and composer Charles borde, attended a celebrant dinner in Luxembourg. After the speeches at the feast, boulder produced a manuscript, which he dedicated to isai, with the words "with all due respect to franck," which he had created for isai's wedding.Isai was thrilled and said he would like to play the piece on the spot.He asked boulder's sister-in-law by marriage, the famous pianist leodina boulder pena, if she would be willing to debut the work with him.The two artists then began to play the work visually, and the audience was moved to tears.Ms boulder pena also premiered the work with isay in Brussels on December 16th.Ironically, Mr Frenk's biographer does not give isai the credit he deserves.
In 1922 isai returned to Brussels. His wife died in 1924, and he married janet dinsing four years later.Dinsing was an American student who had come to Brussels from the United States to give him lessons.Isai was seventy years old, and his bride twenty-four.Their marriage seemed to be a happy one, for in this respect our master had a good eye.Isai's health has been one of his problems, but his young wife has been a great help, and she has kept his diabetes under control for years by severely restricting his diet. But he was never able to overcome his shaking hands.Flash blamed his right hand jitter on his faulty bow handling. But gingold told the author that isai's hand was always shaking, and even when he reached for a glass of water, he sometimes had to use his left hand to keep his right hand from shaking.
